Have finally finished my commissioned painting! It became a large landscape work that depicts something of a night scene with a lake in the centre. I added an island with a little table and chair inviting to have a quiet romantic dinner and some lanterns to lead the way…. or something along those lines, it’s open to interpretation!
The process was my usual way of creating abstract background textures first and then working into that to flesh out the actual “scene”. I love never knowing what will be next, or where the imagination will lead me. I truly do love my painting process. And I realized that I fell right back into it, even though I had been neglecting it for a while.
It is funny how you can never stop BEING an artist, even if you get out of practice, when you start on it again, it’s like riding a bike, it just feels natural. I just love that.
I quite like the colours I ended up with, dark blues, purples and greens with some highlights and complementaries like the red lanterns, just so it wouldn’t be to same-same.
My client loved it, I hope you guys out there do too!
Til next time!
