Heya, some more news on the Game front:
I have finished the rest of the other new characters: There is Baboo, a monkey who is stuck in the curio store and knows a whole lot.
Here a section of Edwin’s description of him:
” He’s a ‘proper’ gent, but also has an air of jolliness about him, as if he might at any moment wink at Danny, do a tap dance, and crack a joke about that horse that walks into a bar…ouch.
Baboo once lived in the Book Shop and is thus a voracious reader. Now that he’s been moved to the Curios Shop he’s starved for some good reading material. He’s very knowledgeable on a wide range of topics and is happy to impart his wisdom, or read Danny anything from a book should Danny be able to furnish Baboo with one.”
Then there is Steptoe, a very old and broken staircase:
“A once grand staircase, Steptoe has fallen on hard times. In his entirety, Steptoe is two flights of stairs that reach up to the first floor, where the Toy Store is. There’s a landing halfway up the stairs…that’s where Cosmo is (more on him later).
Beautifully carved and scrolled banisters border Steptoe’s steps. Wooden globes adorn the bottom left and right posts. They are carved and represent two large, sad old eyes. Steptoe’s mouth is the bottom two steps which part so that he can talk. Classic talking house style.
Parts of Steptoe are broken. Most obviously his fifth and sixth steps are gone. Why is Steptoe in this state? The Skeleton Eater has sapped his confidence and pride in himself away, and Steptoe has let himself go.”
There are also Shuman and Solomon, a pair of shoes that Danny finds in the shoe store. Those two constantly quabble with each other, but can be very helpful when trying to jump Skeleton Eaters!!
So this is all the stores and characters and my work is done for a little while, now it’s time to let Stephen do his magic 🙂 I think the next step will be to add mouth shapes to the characters when they are talking. But I think we are a little while away from there.
