Me and my sister like to make birthday presents together, it makes for smarter ideas (2 brains are better than one 🙂 ) and less work for each of us. So my dad’s birthday rolled around and we always have trouble finding something for him as he is one of those people who seem to have everything they need and not really want anything (I’m sure you know someone like that 🙂 ).
He likes to work on his oldtimer car (a Citroen Traction Avant, in case you care) and so we thought of making him a motivational poster for the times when not all is well in his garage (everyone who owns an old car knows that feeling…)
We wanted to give it a retro feel as the style would fit well into the garage and came up with the idea to reinterpret this:
So we set up our own little photostudio in my room, dressed up and posed for a while. It was rather funny and actually quite hard to get the right expressions but in the end we succeeded I think. My sister is obviously much more suited, her arm is about as big as poster girl’s (and not photoshopped whatsoever!) but it I had lots of fun, too!
After the photo session, I unpacked my graphic design skills and we made the whole thing into our very own poster. Here the result:
Best thing: It graces the garage now in a massive A1 size and mounted on wood. Dad loves it to bits and visitors don’t even believe it’s us. 🙂
