Well, so since I have been in Germany my mum had a special project for me in mind, that I have been working on for weeks now.
She is engaged in the Church council and as they have decided to replace the 100 year old benches in their church for some more flexible seating, these old benches had been taken out. As they were not going to be used for anything else she has been able to get one for herself and wanted it to become a garden furniture sculpture with my help. She wanted my to paint it with a complementing pattern and then place it outdoors in her garden along a long hedge.
I was really excited to do this project, as painting furniture has always been a dream of mine and then starting on something so grand and impressive is just awesome.
So I decided to really juxtapose the pattern to the classic look of the bench with some funky 60s paisley pattern. It pops right out ( especially because the bench had been tinted black) but at the same time complements the curves of the bench on the edges and separations nicely.

I had to paint an undercoat of everything in white first and all that double painting was a lot of work. But it was worth it because the end result had colours that really popped!
